Sacred Sites to See

Mauna Kea
Considered by the Hawaiian people to be the place where the earth mother (Papa) and sky father (Wakea) kissed and created humans (kanaka). This is also an important site of the Hawaiian Soverignty Movement where Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) gathered from all the islands to protect the summit of Mauan Kea from more development. Learn more about the Protect Mauna Kea Movement.

Kiluea Crater
Considered by the Hawaiian people to be the primary home of Pele Honumea the Volcano Goddess of all Volcanos on the earth, this sacred space is one of the most active volcanoes on the earth. It is the reason the Hawaiian islands exist! Volcanoes National Park is also full of many trails, rain forests, steam vents, and lava tubes to explore.
